Abdominal Therapy focuses on deep abdominal and fascial integration which assists general circulation and improves your all-round health and well-being. It’s so much more than a belly rub! It encompasses simple and intuitive folk massage techniques and combines them with anatomy, physiology, and other focused learning. Abdominal massage is something each one of us instinctively does, either by simply rubbing our bellies after a big meal to help digestion, or offering the tender touch to a child who is sick, anxious, or has colic. With this simple and structured massage, each healing stroke allows us to breathe more deeply and increases circulation in the belly. Circulation brings vitality to our organs… optimizing digestion, energizing the nervous system, endocrine system, and supporting reproductive health. An Ancient Healing System: Based on over thirty years of training and experience in massage, naprapathy, herbology, and spiritual healing, Dr. Rosita Arvigo developed these techniques. This modality incorporates a holistic approach to health care which includes massage, anatomy and physiology, herbology, nutrition, and emotional and spiritual healing. Dr. Arvigo believes that with any natural healing technique, these areas must be simultaneously addressed to promote optimal health. Dr. Arvigo learned these techniques from her mentor, Don Elijio Panti, the great Maya Shaman of Belize, Central America with whom she apprenticed for ten years. Don Elijio believed that a woman's center is her uterus. "If a woman's uterus is out of balance, so is she," he would say. Midwives and healers of Central America agree that most female troubles are caused by the wandering womb. Don Elijio passed away in 1996 at the age of 103. Rosita also studied with Ms. Hortence Robinson, a 73 year old herbal midwife of Belize who had been delivering babies since she was 13.
