It is far more than a simple tummy massage—this work blends intuitive traditional techniques with modern knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and holistic healing. We all instinctively use abdominal touch: rubbing our belly after a heavy meal, or placing a comforting hand on a child’s stomach when they’re anxious, sick, or suffering from colic. Abdominal Therapy builds on this natural instinct and transforms it into a gentle, structured, and deeply therapeutic treatment. Each slow, intentional stroke encourages deeper breathing and increases circulation throughout the abdomen. Improved circulation brings fresh vitality to the organs—optimising digestion, nourishing the nervous and endocrine systems, and supporting reproductive health. As the belly softens, the whole body begins to rebalance. An Ancient Healing System, Refined for Today These techniques were developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo after more than thirty years of study and practice in massage, naprapathy, herbology, and spiritual healing. The Arvigo® approach embraces the whole person—addressing physical, emotional, nutritional, and spiritual aspects to support true, lasting wellbeing. Dr. Arvigo learned this wisdom from her mentor, Don Elijio Panti, the renowned Maya shaman of Belize, with whom she apprenticed for a decade. Don Elijio believed that a woman’s centre lies in her uterus: “If a woman’s uterus is out of balance, so is she.” This understanding is shared by midwives and healers throughout Central America, who recognise that many female health concerns stem from a misaligned or stagnant womb. Rosita also studied with Ms. Hortence Robinson, a respected herbal midwife of Belize who began delivering babies at just thirteen and carried decades of profound healing knowledge.
